No, there is no contact with the plinth except the edges of the chassis.

The top layer of the plinth is baltic birch plywood that was cut to match the chassis. I had cut the second layer of plywood to a smaller size and ended up routing a shallow area that the chassis brace was contacting just enough to keep the chassis from clamping down tight. The rest of the plywood layers were cut to clear the motor.

The mat is a thick hard rubber mat off from a Denon TP-75 turntable I have. Damps the metal platter wonderfully.
