Hi Fred,

The New Orleans amplifier manufacturer is NTV Amplifiers, which is Richard Gray (yes, that Richard Gray) and Nick Ferber. Below is a link that has some nice shots of the 5-watt amp of theirs I showed at RMAF. The tube is a "50", new custom production out of China, and the amp is a single-ended triode with no global negative feedback.

Richard sells word-of-mouth, and has a backlog of orders. He has a couple of other models, and I'm not sure which amp he'll be bringing to LSAF.

The other amp I had at RMAF was an Atma-Spher S-30 Mk III, but with the old chassis style. Into your 95 dB, 16 ohm speakers the S-30 becomes an S-45; that is, it will put out 45 watts. If that's not enough juice for you, then you're a far, far tougher man than I am!

What does the impedance curve on your line arrays look like? Since the S-30 has a fairly high output impedance, the speaker's impedance curve ups and downs can make a significant difference in the system's frequency response.

At this point I'm not certain that I'll be showing with an Atma-Sphere amp. I'd have to do two rooms, and I'm not sure I want to work that hard!

Shoot me your phone number and let me know a good time to call if you'd like to talk amps or speakers or just whatever.

Duke
