A new possibility for a replacement woofer has recently appeared on the horizon, in the form of Nick McKinney's Lambda designs going back into production under the name of Acoustic Elegance. Nick is a strong believer in faraday rings, and his woofers do unusually well up into the midrange region - which is one of my requirements. They also tend to be real woofers instead of high-efficiency midrange drivers. His 15" woofers are excellent. I haven't tried any of his smaller ones yet, but they're what I'd be looking at because for now at least I'm sort of married to the 10" waveguide.
