Thanks, Akhilesh. Yup the idea looks good on paper. Gallo uses the same dual voice coil with helper plate-amp concept on the low-efficiency woofer in their three-way Reference 3, but they don't ask that woofer to extend well up into the midrange.

Looks good on paper is of course of academic interest only if it sounds bad. But assuming this new woofer sounds good too, I'll probably bring a speaker based on it to Lone Star 2008.
